Ibiza makeup

A really quick one from me as I am trying to pack and taking out my makeup and photographing it has meant I’ve actually gone backwards in terms of getting things packed! I’m off on a girls holiday to Ibiza so I’m looking for sunkissed, beachy makeup and here are some of the things I’m considering taking.

Yes, there’s a lot (I have never been one for packing light, more is always more) but it won’t all make the final edit. Decisions, decisions!

Yes, this is my beach towel. You won’t be able to miss me!

I was hoping to take a tinted moisturiser with me, instead of a full on foundation. However, my skin isn’t great at the moment and I just feel safer with something a bit heavier on the coverage front. I’m bringing the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation in 020 Sand. I really like this foundation for travel as it’s in a squeezy tube so easy to get into my liquids bag. It’s medium coverage, the colour I use is quite beigey and they have a few more colour options (but not loads). It says it’s matte and I usually like a more radiant base but I don’t find it too matte or flat on my skin. Ideally I’d bring a primer with some radiance in it just to add a little more glow but I don’t have space in my liquids bag unfortunately. This is a great drugstore foundation for medium coverage and very handy for travel.

For concealer I’ve got the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer (in medium) which I love and use most days under my eyes to hide my dark circles and brighten the eye area. I also have a salmony peach Bobbi Brown Creamy Corrector corrector to put underneath that to cancel out the purple under my eyes. For my pesky spots I have the Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer (shade natural), which is a creamy concealer stick to go over any spots that need extra concealing (I find the Bourjois can be a bit too brightening for my spots and ends up emphasising them). Stick concealers can settle into my fine lines round my eyes and they’re not brightening hence why I use the Hourglass on spots not eyes. If you’re looking for a drugstore dupe I think Rimmel and Bourjois both do stick concealers (I’ve heard good things about Bourjois Blur the Lines but not tried it myself)

BTW the makeup bag was a gift from my lovely friend Sarah 🙂

I recently purchased Benefit’s legendary Hoola Bronzer which is one of the best selling bronzers in the UK. I was queuing to pay at Boots, minding my own business when I saw this little baby and I’m a sucker for a mini (there is a bigger size which is here.) It is so perfect for travel because it’s tiny but it still fits a little mirror in it. It’s also very pigmented so the first time I used it I went rather OTT with it! That surprised me as often it takes a lot of bronzer to show up on my skin tone but full marks for oomph and pigment Benefit ! You can contour with Hoola but I’ve also got a contour stick from Model Co with me just in case I decide I need any further sculpting.

For blush I’ve gone for a really light subtle beige rose colour from Rimmel in Santa Rose. This just adds a slight flush to my skin but without looking like I’m wearing much blusher. I’ve also got Collection’s Speedy Highlighter stick  (which I forgot to include in my picture, oops) which is brilliant but on its last legs (and last trip). This is a creamy chubby stick for drawing on a  highlighter, it’s really easy to use and at under £3 is really good value. And finally, I have a pressed powder from Makeup Forever (bought in Sephora but they do stock in Debenhams in the UK) just to set it all in place (which quite possibly should have gone in the previous section but I’m in a rush so forgive me!)

Sorry, this is a horrible photo but I’m in such a rush to pack!

On holiday I love a gold eye (in fact all year round I do, it’s great for making blue or green eyes pop). Rimmel have a lovely little palette of eight eyeshadows called Keep Calm and Wear Gold. It’s all based around golden bronze brown shades, it’s compact and comes with a mirror. I haven’t really tried it out yet but the pigmentation of most shades looked great on my hand and there’s some pretty options. If you’re interested there’s also two more palettes in the Magnif’eyes range, one is more pinky/plum nudes and the other is more purpley/grey for a grungier smokey eye.

I also have the Rimmel Magnif’eyes Double Ended eyeshadow stick in Queens of the Bronzed Age. It has a thinner champagne gold on one side and a thicker bronze eyeshadow stick on the other end. I really didn’t need this but I love a bronze eyeshadow and this will be perfect for drawing on and smudging or using it as a base for the other eyeshadows.

I have far too many eyeliners to choose from… the black liquid Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner, Bourjois Kohl & Contour in Noir Expert (very dark grey), Mac Eye Kohl in Teddy (warm chocolate brown), Sephora Contour Eye Pencil Waterproof in Tango Night (dark purple with a hint of glitter – Sephora own brand eyeliners are great) , and for something brighter a Bourjois sparkling green pencil, the name has rubbed off and it seems to be discontinued. It’s a green pencil with little specks of glitter. I think it may have been replaced with the Contour Clubbing eyeliner (lots of bright shimmery shades so probably similar)

I had a lash lift and tint last week so no need for eyelash curlers but I am bringing the Rodial Glamolash mascara for extra length and volume. It’s a travel size mascara (from Glossybox) so perfect for a trip away. I would usually bring a waterproof mascara with me but I don’t feel the need this time because I’ll only wear mascara at night.

And for my eyebrows I have the Hourglass Arch Brow sculpting pencil (shade soft brunette). This has a waxy pencil on one side and a brush on the other. I believe Soap and Glory do a great dupe of this (Archery 2 in 1) if you’re looking for something cheaper.

I’ve gone for a coral theme. It makes sense as warm lip colours suit my skintone and even looking at one puts me in the mood for sunshine. I am definitely taking Max Factor Velvet Matte lipstick in Flame with me.  It’s a lovely bright lipstick, a mix of orange, pink, coral, red, it’s hard to describe but I guess I’d say it’s a bright but not overpowering coral.  A perfect holiday lippie.

I’m also taking Rimmel’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in Boho Nude (56) which is a brown nude, rose gold packaging. I love nudes, I love Kate, I love Rimmel lipsticks so job done! (I actually really want the other two nudes in the range but I have restrained myself). I have a L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss (Dazzle, Disco Ball, 210) to put over the top which is a nude gloss with specks of gold sparkle in there, it’s so pretty and fun.

For the day I have Hawaiian Tropic Island  Berry lip gloss with SPF 25 in it so keep my lips protected from the sun. And then finally I have two lip crayons (a great thing to bring with if you don’t have space for liquids), one is a MeMeME lipglide in Playful Peach and the other is Lord & Berry crayon lipstick in Kiss (an orangey red).

SO yes, far too much for a short trip! i like all of them, how do I narrow it down? ARGH!!

I hope this helps if anyone is planning a beach/pool holiday anytime soon 🙂
